Aeroplan Inc. shares rise

Groupe Aeroplan Inc., the 25-year-old loyalty rewards giant whose programs are used by Air Canada and many other companies, Thursday posted first-quarter earnings of $25.1 million or 12 cents a share.

That's up from $15.3 million, or eight cents a share, a year earlier, on revenue of $546 million, up from $508 million.

The results were below most market foreasts. The consensus of analysts polled by loomberg had expected adjusted earnings f 25.6 cents compared with the 22 cents osted by the company. The company also nnounced it was increasing its dividend by 0 per cent to 60 cents yearly.
